With a total area of nearly 2,000 square meters and an investment of more than two million yuan ($320,600), the comprehensive building of the health center located in Huangtaigang town of Nanyang in Central China's Henan province has been completed and put into use recently.

The first floor is for traditional Chinese medicine with complete divisions including traditional Chinese pharmacy, moxa-wool moxibustion, acupuncture and physiotherapy. The second and third floors have complete facilities and devices for the department of surgery.

The health center provides great convenience to local residents, who no longer need to visit hospitals in the urban area, which is more than 30 miles away.

Recent years have witnessed the continuous growth of investment in health infrastructure in Nanyang. The city has completed the construction of the disease control network and has accelerated the development of traditional Chinese medicine, which serves to safeguard the health of the residents.

The city makes every effort to attract investment from the central government and Henan province to establish its health infrastructure. The pediatrics ward building of Nanyang Second Hospital and the Lihe village health center, which received 70.2 million yuan and 1.5 million yuan, respectively, are under construction right now.

The city of Nanyang has launched the telephone line emergency center and new energy industry cluster area's emergency center, which have received an investment of 7 million yuan.

The health centers in Jinhua, Gaomiao and Hanzhong have received a total of 4.95 million yuan to expand an area of 3,572 square meters. Furthermore, the city has received 1.65 million yuan from the central government to build 33 village-level health centers, which takes around 2,640 square meters.

Nanyang further enhanced the new rural cooperative medical system. The overall number of participating rural residents has reached 409,600, or roughly 99.55 percent of the entire population.

The city also lowered the minimum amount of medical fees to receive subsidies. The maximum amount of medical subsidies has been improved from 150,000 yuan to 200,000 yuan. In addition, Nanyang increased the subsidy ratio of chronic diseases and normal outpatient service.

So far, a total of 961,700 people have received the subsidy. The total amount of subsidies has reached 113 million yuan.

The city of Nanyang has put emphasis on precaution and inoculation, disease prevention, health education and striking unregistered physicians. The city has completed a total of 329,300 inoculations.

The inoculation rate of basic vaccines has reached more than 99.5 percent. The newborn registration rate has reached 100 percent.

The city has pushed forward the control of chronic diseases and has made every effort to construct a specified network to prevent and heal chronic diseases by integrating the disease control center, village and town level health centers, and community medical service stands.

The city also aims to carefully report the infectious diseases online, develop public health events, and manage the infections on time.

The hospital, schools, demonstrative districts, demonstrative health community and events actively promote public fitness education.

The city also divided five unregistered clinics and punished a total of 62.

The city has accelerated the construction of projects featuring traditional Chinese medicine. The new traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive service area of Nanyang No 2 Hospital is under construction. A total of 86 percent of health centers and commercial clinics have completed the construction of their own traditional Chinese medicine service area.

Nanyang has received 700,000 yuan from Henan province to invest in improving the traditional Chinese medicine service standard. In addition, 300,000 yuan has been invested in the traditional Chinese orthopedics department.

The city of Nanyang has also invested 800,000 yuan to develop traditional Chinese medicine health care and physiotherapy.
